Teaching Strategies for More Effective Engagement
"Anger is a wonderful tool for identifying problems. Anger is a terrible tool for resolving them.”
- Dr. Scott Turansky."
People become angry when injustice significantly impacts their identity or impedes their goals. Like pain, anger rightly signals there is a situation to address. Yet, all too often, people use their anger to resolve the issue, which leads to broken relationships at home, at work, or in the community.
A conflict coach works one-on-one with persons struggling to translate their justified anger into healthier, more effective means of resolving the issues. The coach uses a proven, step-by-step process to help identify triggers and threats. Then, the coach works with the client to identify which patterns get in the way of resolving the issue and to develop new patterns that appropriately communicate the client’s feelings and goals while opening the discussion to resolutions for the underlying issues.
The Resolution Center offers conflict coaching as part of our package of services to enable parties in divorce, business, or other conflicts to better participate in the mediation sessions. Parties experience enhanced results in working through the present conflict and also learn strategies for negotiating future disputes.
The Resolution Center also offers conflict coaching as a standalone service. For divorce attorneys who need help coaching a client through the divorce process, businesses addressing employee issues, families addressing the needs of elderly parents, or faith communities experiencing relational crises–we can help. When you invest in conflict coaching, you learn new strategies to work through conflict that make it easier to address issues.
