"Whether it comes in the form of martial stress, parents separating or divorcing, parental conflict hurts children.”
- Robert Emery, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for Children, Families, and the Law at the University of Virginia.
When family relationships become contentious, The Resolution Center, LLC steps in with comprehensive Child and Family Advocacy services. Our family-owned business has been serving families since 2011. We don’t just resolve disputes; we also understand and address the needs of every family member, including the children. The Resolution Center, LLC cannot stop the hurt, but we can reduce the harm and increase well-being. The Child and Family Advocate (CFA) helps parents understand their child's experience by bringing the parent's perspective into the child's world. The CFA shapes parental attitudes and interactions, decreasing conflict between parents and strengthening the child-parent relationship.
Parents learn how to create a "Child Safety Zone," which is a space filled with respect for the child's emotional needs and free from parental conflict. They come to see their child as an integral part of a restructured family that will continue even after the marriage has ended.
Child and Family Advocate (CFA) services are required as part of the package for families with children undergoing a Solution-Focused Divorce™. They are also recommended for standalone mediation services.
The CFA spends time with both parents and children. Children in the same family may experience life differently due to their age, temperament, and coping abilities. The role of the CFA in the conciliation process is to be "the voice of the child" while respecting the decision-making authority of parents who are ending a marital relationship. The CFA also addresses important relationships with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.
The CFA’s role is to foster new and strengthened abilities in each family member, ensuring the continuity of child-parent relationships within a context of parental respect. This transformative work naturally complements the mediation/arbitration process, leading to the most satisfying outcomes for all family members.
The typical CFA process consists of six steps:

"The best thing about my experience with The Resolution Center was the way they helped me and my soon-to-be ex-husband reimagine our family. We went through exercises that helped us identify what we wanted for our family (that included 3 kids) and then move toward those goals. Our family was not going to be the same, but we were able to imagine something new that has been invaluable for all of us."
- Sally Bias
